Abu Jafar Shamsuddin was Bangladeshi Journalist and writer. Abu Jafar Shamsuddin was born in Dakshinbagh village in Gazipur on 12 March 1911. Abu Jafar Shamsuddin got Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1968 and Ekushey Padak in 1983 for his literary works in Bangla Literature.
Abu Jafar Shamsuddin completed his Junior Madrasha examination in 1924, then in 1929; he completed his High Madrasah examination. He was then admitted into Dhaka College but never graduated.
Abu Jafar Shamsuddin joined the Daily Soltan as a sub-editor. After that, he went on to work on The Azad, The Daily Ittefaq, Purbadesh, and The Sangbad. Abu Jafar Shamsuddin also served as an Assistant Translator at the Bangla Academy from 1961
