About this author
Gajendra Kumar Mitra was born on 11 November 1908. He was a versatile writer. He wrote many novels, short stories, plays, essays, and poems.
He also translated a few English novels into Bengali, such as Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities. He used to write with his left hand. His genuine love and concern for Bengali literature inspired him to co-found the famous Mitra and Ghosh Publishers. He has earned respect and love from the community for his work and even received awards like Rabindra ‘Purashkar’.
Mitra was childless. He died on 16 October 1994 in Calcutta (now Kolkata).
