Zaragoza is an amazing historical novel written by the writer Benito Perez Galdos that depicts the struggle between an imperial Napoleonic army determined to capture the city of Zaragoza and the resilient group of rebels who the the defenders of their city. The siege lasted for 1 year, from 1808-09, and this novel vividly depicts the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those caught amid War and the life of mass people during the war. The author masterfully wrote this novel in a suspenseful realistic style.
