Eric Liu’s science fiction book “Terrene: The Hidden Valley” is set in two different universes. It centers on Jane, a scientist in a future where climate change is a concern, and Flora, an inquisitive young woman from a highly advanced valley. Because of Flora’s blackouts, their lives become entwined, resulting in a journey of sacrifice and discovery.
