Comets

Comets is a popular astronomy booklet by Henry W. Elson (1857-1935), the Ohio University professor better known for his widely used histories of the United States. Written for general readers in the years when Halley’s 1910 return had filled newspapers with comet fever and comet pills, it explains what comets are, the famous returns of history, and why the earth survives their visits.
