The Silver Spoon is the 1926 novel by John Galsworthy (1867-1933), the middle book of A Modern Comedy, the second Forsyte trilogy. Fleur Mont, born Forsyte, fights a society slander suit while her father Soames endures the new postwar England with his Victorian certainties intact, and the libel courtroom gives Galsworthy one of his sharpest set pieces. Galsworthy received the Nobel Prize in 1932, and the Forsyte novels have twice conquered television. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
