Havana Noir

The excellent collection of noir stories “Havana Noir,” collected by Achy Obejas is set in the actual lawless Havana the one that never makes an appearance in travel guides or postcards. The pressing necessity has driven sin out of our city. In a frantic attempt to survive, acts of violence, loveless sex, mental abuse, and greed are committed. Writers such as Yohamna Depestre and Leonardo Padura express the grim and tragically injured parts of Havana, presenting a noir with a distinct tone and feel.
