Death Trick

The first novel in the “Donald Strachey” series is “Death Trick,” written by Richard Lipez under the pen name Richard Stevenson. The narrative centers on Albany, New York-based gay private investigator Don Strachey, who is hired to find gay activist Billy Blount, a member of an affluent family. In addition to being missing, Billy is wanted for a vicious murder. The novel, which is set in the years before AIDS, follows readers through the gay community in small-town America as Strachey overcomes obstacles to unravel the riddle.
