The thirteenth novel in the Nick Williams Mystery series is “The Paradoxical Parent,” written by Frank W. Butterfield. The plot centers on private detective Nick Williams and his firefighter husband Carter Jones in 1955. Nick travels across the nation after finding out where his mother last resided before passing away. He and Carter get to know others who were acquainted with Nick’s mother in the process and discover more about her.
They do, however, also come upon unsettling aspects of Nick’s history. Nick understands it’s time to face a killer’s insanity after a policeman is killed and innocent people are put in danger, even if it means he has to fire the shot himself.
