The Shallows

Holly Craig’s fascinating story “The Shallows” takes place in a posh suburb of Sydney. The protagonists of the tale are Emma and her closest friend Ariella, who despite leading ideal lives are conscious of the sinister truths that lie under the surface. Their secure suburban lives are upended when Ariella is discovered dead and the murder is inadvertently captured on camera and shared online by Emma’s daughter Kiki.

Emma becomes desperate to find out what they’re escaping from Ariella’s hidden admissions, and who else knows her secret after her husband Charles compels them to leave aboard their boat.
