The protagonist of the tale suffers a terrible loss and gets involved with an enigmatic individual. The stakes get higher as secrets come to light, creating a lethal web of falsehoods. Although the tone isn’t always depressing, there is a chapter that has triggers connected to emotional and sexual abuse in childhood.
