Don Jones began receiving Microsoft's Most Valuable Professional award in 2003 and wrote some of the earliest books published on Windows PowerShell. He co-founded PowerShell.org and The DevOps Collective, the group behind the PowerShell + DevOps Global Summit, and served as a curriculum director at the training company Pluralsight. Learn PowerShell Scripting in a Month of Lunches, written with Jeffery Hicks for Manning in 2017, picks up a reader who can already type commands at the shell and teaches scripts and reusable tools instead, across twenty-seven short lessons on function design, pipeline behaviour, error handling, debugging and packaging code into libraries. It absorbs much of the pair's earlier Learn PowerShell Toolmaking in a Month of Lunches. A second edition followed with James Petty joining them on the cover. Jones has published fiction as well since 2014, including The Never: A Tale of Peter and the Fae.
