The largest and most terrifying vampire, Lazarus, is introduced to us in Charlene Hartnady’s stand-alone vampire book “A Mate for Lazarus.” Because, well, he’s not a human, he won’t behave like one. If he wants to, he can snarl like a tyrant, drink blood, and wield all sixteen of his weapons at once. The fear he inspires among the program’s human female participants is the issue. He won’t be allowed near them or even to speak with them. Alexandra, a firebrand who isn’t scared of him, then shows up. She’s the most attractive and diminutive woman he’s ever seen. Lazarus intends to make her fight for his vote for her to remain in the program, even though she doesn’t necessarily like him.
