A Storm of Swords makes George R.R. Martin saddle A Song of Ice and Fire up with political intrigue, betrayal and, really, limited to battles for power over one another in Westeros. Alliances are crumbling, secrets are blown wide open, characters twist and turn until it ends in death or worse. All of this and its central character is memorable, the great storytelling is commendable and it comes in masterful fantasy, drama, and suspense for the bargain price.
