Joanne Fluke’s 25th novel in the Hannah Swensen series is titled “Coconut Layer Cake Murder.” Hannah Swensen, the protagonist of the tale moves from Lake Eden to sunny California to assist a friend. She is drawn back to a chilly Minnesota winter for a murder investigation, though, by an unexpected phone call. Hannah finds out that Detective Lonnie Murphy the boyfriend of her sister Michelle, is the main suspect in a homicide investigation.
Only a portion of the evening that he went out to a neighborhood pub and ultimately gave a very inebriated woman a ride home is recalled by Lonnie. The next morning, he was surprised to find her dead when he woke up on her couch. Hannah is unsure of what to believe, other than the fact that it is nearly hard to clear a person who is mentally ill.
