About this book

Memoiren einer Grossmutter (Memoirs of a Grandmother), Volume 2, is the German-language memoir of Pauline Wengeroff (1833-1916), a Russian Jewish woman whose recollections of traditional life and its dissolution under modernity became a classic of Jewish social history. Wengeroff records the world of the Lithuanian shtetl, the coming of the Haskalah, and the painful generational rupture of assimilation. Her memoir is a uniquely valuable woman's account of nineteenth-century Eastern European Jewry. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
