Cold Skin

Catalan author Albert Sánchez Piñol’s debut book ‘Cold Skin’ is about a former Irish independence warrior who takes a lonely job as a weather official on a desolate island close to the Antarctic Circle. He comes across weird monsters that resemble frogs and learns secrets that Batis Caffo, the signals official, has been hiding. The book explores themes of terror, survival, and strange relationships with animals that subvert our ideas of right and wrong.
