The second novel in Bronwyn Parry’s Dungirri series is titled “Dark Country.” The main character of the tale is Morgan “Gil” Gillespie, who after eighteen years away returns to his birthplace Dungirri. Because of what happened in the past, the majority of the townspeople believe he is a killer. He unexpectedly finds a woman’s tortured body in his car upon his return, which sparks fresh suspicions of murder.
Despite her misgivings about Gil, local police sergeant Kris Matthews agrees to serve as his alibi because she thinks he is innocent. To find the truth, the two must overcome organized crime, corrupt police, and hostility in the community.
