Fire & Frost

Meljean Brook’s collection of three novellas, “Fire & Frost,” is primarily focused on action with a lot of sex. In Meljean Brook’s book “Wrecked,” Elizabeth has been escaping from her father for the past five years while Caius, her father’s huntsman, has been chasing after her. Elizabeth finds out there are other threats to be concerned about when he eventually gets up to her on an airship cruising above the zombie-infested towns of Europe. Caius is determined to keep her at his side now that he has located her.

The book also contains Carolyn Crane’s “Conjuring Max,” in which nerdy Veronica is rejected and mocked by the witches of the globe for attempting to improve traditional spellcasting with the aid of modern computers. And Jessica Sims’ “Speed Mating,” in which Estrella may be getting hot, but she’s determined to stay in charge.
