Kindred

Octavia E. Butler has written a great sci fi which involved time travelling mixed with history in her Kindred. Unlike other works of science fiction in which the characters are taken to a distant planet, in this novel, the main character, Dana is taken back and forth from her own time in Los Angeles in the early 70’s to the pre-Civil War South. As she faces the real horrors of slavery she struggles with the issues of identity, race and authority in a movie that is both, philosophical and terrible.
