M is for Maurice, written by E. M. Forster. It is the story of homosexual love in the England of the early twentieth century as the novel traces the path of Maurice Hall from boyhood through his university days and beyond. The novel was composed in 1913–1914, and rewritten in 1932, and in 1952-1960 though the last part of this novel differs from another edited one with another and another one in the publication as well. Appreciating the house of Edward Carpenter – poet, philosopher, socialist and early homosexual rights campaigner, Forster commenced writing “Maurice” in 1913.
