In his book, A Revolutionary Way to Influence and Persuade, Robert Cialdini reveals some of the best strategies that master persuaders use to take advantage of what they call “privileged moments for change.” These are those moments when audiences prepare themselves for a message even before perceiving it. In Cialdini’s view, there is nothing more effective than effective pre-suasion in terms of persuasion. It is not about changing a listener’s attitudes or beliefs, but about changing the objects of attention of the audience immediately before asking for an appropriate action.
Cialdini supports the concept with several existing works and examples ranging from marketing persuasion to war influential pre-suasion persuasion through attention from an array of works and real-life instances including famous online successful marketing persuasion methods as well as successful war persuasion techniques.
