Rising Sun

David Macinnis Gill’s “Rising Sun” is a stand-alone novella that serves as a preface to the highly regarded “Black Hole Sun.” The main character, Durango, formerly known as Jacob Stringfellow, was formerly a bright star in the elite military. However, Durango now has an artificial intelligence dubbed Mimi living in his brain due to his father’s betrayal and a near-death experience. The tale, which is set on a dystopian Mars, centers on Durango and Mimi as they work through their relationship issues and try to survive the game.
