Hannah Capin’s “The Dead Queens Club” is an efficient modern young adult novel that takes place in a high school and tells the story of Henry VIII and his wives. The story is told from Annie Marck’s (“Cleves”) point of view, an aspiring journalist who meets Henry at summer camp. It offers historical data with a lighthearted, humorous twist.
Though most breakups are acrimonious, Cleves is the only girlfriend to emerge from her relationship with Henry undamaged. Tragic accidents can sometimes occur more than once.
