The Green Mile

The Green Mile is one of Stephen King’s most loved novels, originally published as a serial in six monthly instalments. Set on death row in a 1930s Louisiana prison, it follows the prison guard Paul Edgecombe and a giant inmate named John Coffey whose presence cannot be explained by anything in the file.

The book is one of King’s gentler works, and the Tom Hanks film adaptation made the story even more widely known.
