About this book

Sax Rohmer, best known for creating Fu Manchu, turned to occult horror in this tale of Egyptian sorcery loose in modern England. When Sir Michael Ferrara dies under strange circumstances, young Robert Cairn grows certain that his friend's adopted son, the beautiful and sinister Antony Ferrara, is no ordinary man but the heir to an ancient witch-queen's dark arts. Cairn and his physician father pursue Ferrara through a mounting series of supernatural attacks, from swarming insects to conjured fire, drawing on the forbidden lore of the Book of Thoth. Pulpy, fast, and shadowed with dread, it earned admiration from H. P. Lovecraft himself. Free to read as a PDF and EPUB edition.
