The Sword

J. Bree’s precursor short tale “The Sword” is part of the Mortal Fates series. Following the witches’ murder of the Unseelie Court’s king and queen, the high fae becomes involved in a battle. The Southern Lands are in chaos since there isn’t a legitimate heir to the throne. Because of fate, the main character cannot be crowned unless they wed the person who has been chosen by fate.

The days of the high fees are numbered as long as the War of the Witches continues and the impostor king reigns. The protagonist, armed with a cold, merciless sword and only knowledge of destruction and bloodshed, searches for love among peril and mystery.
