Totto-chan: Tetsuko Kuroyanagi’s The Little Girl at the Window is memoir of a Little Girl who likes to be in a curious position, asking adamant questions and going to an unconventional school in 1940 under wartime Japan. This is a story of individuality, it’s whimsical anecdotes, interspersed with life lessons, celebrates individuality, kindness and the transformative power of education. A terribly warm hearted read.
