“Touch” by Alexi Zentner is a haunting and magical tale set in Sawgamet, a logging town. Thirty years after his grandfather returned to town in quest of his long-dead wife during a legendary summer, the main character, Stephen, returns home on the eve of his mother’s death. The history of the town and Stephen’s family are woven together in the novel, fusing myths like evil wood spirits, golden caribou, and winter that buried the town until July with factual information.
