The third novel in the Exiles series, “Traitor Maguire,” by C.R. Dempsey, takes place in Ireland in the 1590s during the Elizabethan Wars. The main character of the tale is Eunan, a guy who is viewed as a hero by some and a traitor by others. After realizing his goals, he is taken prisoner by rivals in his tribe and allowed to perish as they scheme to undermine the group. The battle for supremacy, Irish politics, and the raging flames of insurrection against the English crown are all explored in this book.
