BDeBooks is a free eBook library. We have been running since 2017, and today we publish six
separate catalogues: Bengali, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German.
Six catalogues, not one site in six languages
Each catalogue is built on its own. We do not machine translate one library into five others,
because a reader in São Paulo and a reader in Dhaka are not looking for the same books. Each
catalogue is put together by people who read that language, and it reflects what those readers
actually ask for.
That is also why each catalogue has its own homepage. This page is about the organisation behind
them.
Who reads BDeBooks
Students, researchers and people who simply want something to read. A large part of our audience
is reading in a language they grew up with while living somewhere else, and cannot easily buy books
in it. Making those books findable is the whole point of the project.
Where we stand with authors and publishers
BDeBooks claims ownership of nothing. Every work belongs to its author, translator, publisher or
rights holder. If you hold rights to something listed here and you want it removed, our
DMCA page explains exactly what to send. Valid notices are actioned the day they
arrive, and we do not argue with rights holders about their own work.
Books that are in the public domain are marked as such, and we take care to date a work by its
first publication rather than by whichever edition we happen to hold.
How the site is run
- Every connection is encrypted.
- Files are scanned and the site is monitored continuously.
- Comments and submissions are reviewed.
- We do not sell reader data. See the privacy policy.
