Alaknanda Patel is an economist, researcher, and essayist who was born in Dhaka on 9 November 1937. She thoroughly researched history and music besides the economy. She started her schooling at Eden school, Dhaka, and then obtained graduation from Kashi Hindu University. Then she studied at Harvard University, USA. Then she worked as a professor in different universities and institutes in India and other countries.
