Shesher Kobita

Shesher Kobita is one of Rabindranath Tagore’s most loved novels, written when he was already in his sixties. The story is set in Shillong and follows Amit Ray, a clever young Bengali educated abroad, and Labanya, the woman he meets there. The dialogue is some of the wittiest in Bengali fiction, full of poetry, philosophy, and the kind of cleverness that hides real feeling.
