Deborah Camp’s second novel in the Wild Hearts series is titled “Lady Legend.” The protagonist of the tale is Copper-Headed Woman, an Indian and trapper folktale. She was kidnapped as a young girl, trained in the traditional skills of the Crow Indians, and endured abuse at the hands of a vicious partner.
She was banished from her tribe and hardened her heart against all men until Tucker Jones appeared in her destiny. She restores Tucker’s health after the soldier is declared dead. Themes like trust, love, and destiny are all explored in the book.
