Adaline Winters started writing after a life-altering illness and brain surgery, using it, by her own account, to channel the pain and frustration into something she could hold. She had worked as a criminal intelligence analyst; she now teaches mathematics to teenagers, and lives in the Lake District with her husband, her daughter and a chaotic dog. Her Cora Roberts books, running from Whispers of the Dead in 2021 to Guardians of the Veil in 2025, are small-town paranormal romance. Shadows of the Soul, the second, sets Cora alongside Hudson, who leads the shifters, against a destructive presence loose in the town of White Castle while a secretive order manoeuvres around them both. Wicked opened Legends of the Hallows in 2023, a comic fairy tale romance in which Daphne Stone and her sister Gwyneth are pulled into a realm where the old stories run on a loop. It is one of several series she has run since The Hope Legacy began in 2020.
