Her campaign brings her into conflict with businessman Joe Randall, whose expected land purchase becomes more complicated as he encounters Harriet and the villagers. The novel combines a rural Cotswold-style setting, a stray dog, and a threatened family legacy with a developing romance. Sherlock previously created the Willow Tree Hall books and later extended Railway Lane through New Beginnings on Railway Lane and Winter Magic on Railway Lane. She left office work to pursue writing after a long interest in books and storytelling. Her fiction repeatedly treats a place in need of care as part of the emotional journey toward belonging.
