Amanda Lovelace

Tumblr readers found Amanda Lovelace's poems first. She self-published the princess saves herself in this one in 2016 and it took the Goodreads Choice Award for poetry that December; Andrews McMeel reissued it the year after. Arranged in four movements called the princess, the damsel, the queen and you, it moves through a hard childhood, bereavement and recovery in short unpunctuated lines. Break Your Glass Slippers (2020), Shine Your Icy Crown (2021) and Unlock Your Storybook Heart (2022) make up her second trilogy, you are your own fairy tale, each illustrated by Janaina Medeiros and each turning a familiar fairy tale image back on the reader. Born in 1991, Lovelace holds a degree in English literature and lives in New Jersey.
