Amelia J. Rivers

Amelia J. Rivers shapes dark urban fantasy and paranormal romance around damaged families, dangerous magic, and protagonists fighting for self-determination. When Shadows Bleed follows Dessa, a hunter of Soulless creatures whose resurrection leaves her caught between monstrous enemies and betrayal by the people closest to her. The 2023 stand-alone novel combines horror imagery, supernatural action, friendship, and a struggle to survive the designs of her parents. Rivers has also written Washed Up, a contemporary paranormal romance involving time travel, and Twisted Beauty, a paranormal reworking of Beauty and the Beast. Her announced projects range from portal fantasy to dark contemporary fantasy, but they share an interest in hope under pressure. When Shadows Bleed is the clearest expression of that pattern: Dessa's physical return does not restore a secure family or identity, so the conflict becomes a fight to choose her own future while protecting the companions who have become her trusted circle.
