Author: Arthur L. Salmon
Arthur Leslie Salmon (1865–1952) was an English poet, music critic and topographical writer who made the West Country his lifelong subject. His verse appeared from the late 1880s onward in collections such as Haunted, and Other Poems, and Edward Elgar set one of those poems, "Pleading", as his Op. 48 in 1908. The bulk of his work was county and coastal guides covering Cornwall, Dorset, Dartmoor, Plymouth, Bath and Wells and Bristol. He also wrote Literary Rambles in the West of England, which follows the region through the writers associated with it.
