Beatrice Culleton
Beatrice Culleton is the name under which Métis writer Beatrice Mosionier first published In Search of April Raintree in 1983. The novel follows sisters April and Cheryl after they are separated into different foster homes in Manitoba. Their differing relationships to Métis identity shape the book's central conflict. A revised school edition titled April Raintree followed in 1984. Later editions of the original novel use the name Beatrice Mosionier. For a fortieth-anniversary edition issued in 2023, Katherena Vermette wrote the foreword and Raven Sinclair the afterword. Mosionier also served as publisher of Pemmican Publications. The novel has appeared both as a standalone text and in a critical edition edited by Cheryl Suzack.
