Brigador began as a video game, an isometric mech action title released in 2016 by the studio Stellar Jockeys. Bradley Buckmaster wrote the novel that shipped alongside it, told from ground level rather than from a cockpit. Private Ranulph Kinny, stuck inside an eight-foot Mongoose powered armour suit he does not trust, watches a strange broadcast tip the colony of Solo Nobre into civil war. Stellar Jockeys describes Buckmaster as a career soldier, and the writing leans on kit, drill and the small mechanical failures of infantry work. A sequel, Brigador Killers: Pilgrim, followed in 2025. Very little else about him is on public record.
