Brandon Robshaw combines children’s storytelling, educational writing, and philosophy, often turning a playful premise into a test of judgment. The British author studied English literature at Oxford, worked as a teacher, and completed a doctorate in philosophy. Alongside academic books and university teaching, he has written children’s novels and educational titles, including work under the shared Adam Blade name used for the Beast Quest and Sea Quest series. Big Wish follows eleven-year-old Sam after a shooting star grants him one million wishes, provided each wish remains logically possible. Sam first treats the gift as an answer to school and family problems, then discovers that changing circumstances can create consequences he failed to anticipate. Chicken House first published the novel in Britain as The Big Wish, while Scholastic’s American edition used Big Wish. The story reflects Robshaw’s interest in taking an abstract question about possibility, choice, or happiness and making it accessible through comic action, escalating mistakes, and changing responsibility.
