Bridget Hodder
Bridget Hodder brings history, folklore, and interfaith friendship into middle-grade adventure. She began her career working with Aztec archaeology and historical documents before turning to stories of her own. The Button Box, co-written with Fawzia Gilani-Williams and illustrated by Harshad Marathe, sends Jewish Ava and her Muslim cousin Nadeem from the present into medieval Morocco through a family keepsake. Published by Kar-Ben, the novel places a fast-moving time-travel plot alongside Sephardic and Muslim history. Hodder’s other books include The Rat Prince and The Promise, another collaboration with Gilani-Williams. Across these works, she uses imaginative quests to make cultural memory and friendship accessible to younger readers.
