Bronze Age Mindset went up on Amazon in June 2018 with no publisher and no publicist behind it: seventy-seven short chapters in deliberately broken English, closer in register to a message board than to a book. It argues against human equality and for a life of physical vigour and self-assertion modelled on Homeric warriors and on figures such as Alcibiades. Sales climbed regardless, and by 2023 the title was circulating in Washington offices, which prompted reporters at Politico and The Atlantic to name Costin Alamariu, a Romanian-born writer with a Yale doctorate in political science, as the man behind the pseudonym. He has neither confirmed nor denied it. Reception has been polarised: Michael Anton reviewed the book seriously in the Claremont Review of Books, while critics including the philosopher John Gray read it as adolescent posturing in Nietzschean dress.
