Journalist Abby hopes that a major story can protect her career when she meets Noah, leader of alien warriors hunting dangerous members of their own people on Earth. His mission and desire for revenge leave little room for attachment until Abby is drawn into the conflict. Readers first encountered this opening volume in 2011 before later editions came through Carly Fall's Westward Publishing imprint and received a bronze medal in the Readers' Favorite awards. Subsequent books follow other warriors, including Rayner, Hudson, Cohen, and Blake, while preserving the group's shared history and pursuit. Fall has also written the Supernatural Renegades and Wraith Chronicles books. The Light Within Me therefore functions both as Abby and Noah's romance and as the starting point of a larger alien-warrior world.
