About this author
Casey Cep is an American author and journalist. She is a staff writer at The New Yorker and her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Paris Review, The New Republic, and other publications1. Her debut non-fiction book, “Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud, and the Last Trial of Harper Lee”, is a captivating exploration of the life and criminal trials of Rev. Willie Maxwell—an African American preacher and businessman. Five of his relatives died within seven years, all after he procured life insurance policies for them. The book also delves into the trial of the Reverend’s killer, which Harper Lee attended and planned to write about in her final book, though it remained unfinished at the time of her death.
