Last updated: June 30, 2026

BDeBooks (“BDeBooks”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website bdebooks.com together with its language sections and subdirectories, including bdebooks.com/en and bdebooks.com/es (collectively, the “Site”). This Privacy Policy applies to all of these properties and explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices available to you — including under the European Union / United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable United States state privacy laws.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

BDeBooks is the controller responsible for your personal data on the Site. For any privacy question or request, contact us at: [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

  • Information you provide voluntarily: your email address (if you subscribe to our newsletter); your name and email address (if you post a comment or book review); and the contents of any message you send us.
  • Information collected automatically: your IP address, approximate location (country/region), browser type and version, device and operating system information, referring/exit pages, pages viewed, and the date/time of access. This is collected through cookies, similar technologies, and server logs.

You can browse and download books without creating an account. We do not knowingly collect special categories of sensitive personal data.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary: core site functionality, security, and content delivery/caching.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics, to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it.
  • Advertising: Google AdSense and its partners, to deliver, personalize, and measure ads.

For visitors in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, and applicable US states, advertising and analytics cookies are loaded only in accordance with your choices in our consent banner (see Sections 7 and 10).

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and provide the Site, including serving pages, downloads, and read-online features.
  • To send our newsletter and respond to your inquiries.
  • To display and measure advertising.
  • To analyze usage and improve our content, performance, and user experience.
  • To maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for advertising and analytics cookies and for sending the newsletter. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — for the security and basic functionality of the Site and for aggregate, privacy-protective analytics where permitted.
  • Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with the law.

6. Advertising and Google AdSense

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
  • For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland (and applicable US states), we use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (a consent banner compatible with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework) to obtain and manage your consent for advertising and measurement cookies before such cookies are set.
  • A list of Google’s advertising technology providers is available here.

7. Third Parties and Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share limited data with service providers that help us operate the Site, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

  • Google AdSense / Google — advertising.
  • Google Analytics — usage analytics.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery, security, and performance.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue) — newsletter delivery (only if you subscribe).
  • Google Cloud Platform — hosting infrastructure.

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

8. International Data Transfers

Our servers and service providers may process your data in countries outside your own, including the United States, the European Union, and Singapore. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Your Rights — EEA / UK (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to: access your personal data; request correction or erasure; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].

10. Your Rights — California and Other US States (CCPA/CPRA)

  • You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access and delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (including for cross-context behavioral/targeted advertising), and to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • We do not sell personal information for monetary value. However, the use of advertising cookies may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under some US state laws. You can opt out using our consent banner and the ad-settings links in Section 6.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
  • To submit a request, email [email protected].

11. Your Choices (All Visitors)

  • Use the on-site consent banner to grant, manage, or withdraw your cookie consent.
  • Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
  • Opt out of personalized ads via the links in Section 6.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law — for example, newsletter data until you unsubscribe, review/comment data while it remains published, and server logs for a limited period.

13. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, such as 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

14. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption, firewall and CDN-level security, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Links to Other Websites

The Site may contain links to external websites (for example, download sources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites; please review their policies.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent version, and material changes will be posted on this page.
