Catherine George
Catherine George built a long career in contemporary romance after years spent in Britain and Brazil, a background that supplied settings for several of her books. The Mistress of His Manor follows Joanna Logan, whose attraction to gardener March Aubrey changes when she discovers that he is also the owner of Arnborough Hall. The revelation turns a seemingly ordinary encounter into a conflict about title, social expectation, and the public role Joanna would be asked to accept. Mills & Boon published the contemporary romance in 2009. George's long bibliography also includes Brazilian-set stories and contributions to several Harlequin sequences. The Mistress of His Manor uses the estate less as a fantasy prize than as a responsibility that complicates intimacy. Joanna must decide whether her discomfort with status reflects good judgment or prevents her from seeing the person beneath March's inherited position.
