Three of the books belong to a single zombie sequence. Z is for Zombie, begun in 2012, runs to nine books: What Lies Beneath is the sixth, Avenging Angel the seventh, in which the survivors at Hopetown find that one of their own has been a Hybrid all along, and Terms Mystique the ninth. Alice and Friends, from December 2012, stands beside the series rather than inside it, planting clues without sharing its world. Smooth followed in 2013, and Titanic 1912 and Z Poc came after, the first of those recasting the sinking as a Lovecraftian sea story in which older things come up through the water. Dahman works out of Texas across zombie fiction, crime, prehistoric thrillers and true crime, publishing through J. Ellington Ashton Press and Severed Press, and has said she was told early in her career that horror was not open to women.
