Chantel Guertin

Chantel Guertin is a Toronto author whose fiction ranges from stories for younger readers to contemporary romantic comedy. Gigi, Listening follows bookstore owner Gigi Rutherford on a bus tour through the English countryside, where her expectations about an audiobook narrator are complicated by the people she meets along the route. Kensington's American publication followed in 2023, while Guertin explains that the same story appeared elsewhere as Two for the Road. The novel combines travel, bookselling, family ties, and an affection for spoken stories. Guertin uses the changing itinerary and ensemble of fellow passengers to explore how imagined connection differs from knowing another person through shared experience.
